The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is essential for ensuring Europe’s food security, supporting farmers, and maintaining stable rural communities. Current proposals by the European Commission to change its funding structure could weaken this foundation, putting the future of European agriculture—and Europe's ability to feed itself—at serious risk.

The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is not just a historical pillar of the European Union — it remains a vital and highly relevant tool to ensure access to safe, sustainable, and affordable food across the continent. No wonder, then, that 81% of EU citizens agree the CAP contributes to securing a stable food supply in the EU at all times, according to the latest Eurobarometer results. At a time when more and more is being asked of EU farmers — and in an increasingly uncertain geopolitical context — questioning the CAP’s structure and funding would be nothing short of a historic misstep.
This pan-European petition is an initiative launched and coordinated by COPA and COGECA and part of a broader campaign named "The EU house of Cards". COPA and COGECA are the united voice of European farmers and agri-cooperatives, representing directly national associations at the EU level since the late 1950s.
